I was kinda scared about my dentist appointment. I have never had a root canal done before, and expected it to be majorly painful and incomfortable.
And it wasn't. Seriously, i didn't feel anything at all. I haven't even had much pain at all since, except the odd dull twinge every so often, but nothing i've needed painkillers for.
It was nothing like i feared it would be.
Lesson learnt. My therapist was right. Sometimes we worry about things so much, and convince ourselves that things won't be ok, and that makes us avoid certain situations (me; dentists), but we shouldn't avoid them.
We should face our fears (in manageable ways) and we will find out then that, often, we CAN handle the situations we avoided, and each time we confront said situation, then slowly our fear dissapears, and we realize that there's nothing to be scared of.
That's how i am viewing going to the dentist for now on. Nothing to be scared of.
