'From afar' chapter seven.

"Lipstick?."
Vonda nodded. "The two glasses have two different shades of lipstick on them." she explained. "It also explain's the lack of sexual activity, and how the killer got access into the victim's houses."
Jay was confused."What am i not getting?."
"The killer hasn't been caught because you've been looking for a man." she revealed. "Jay, i think the killer is a woman."
"Because of the lipstick?."
"Because of everything." she picked up a crime scene photo. "You see them little mark's in the carpet?. They're from heels. Kitten heel's. The victim had none in her closet."
Jay was clearly shocked."Oh god, the killer is a woman, isn't it?."
"I'm convinced it is."
Jay shook his head. "Why?." he asked, quietly."Why would anyone kill these women?."
"I don't know." Vonda admitted. "But, when we find her, you can ask her why."

'From afar' chapter six.

After breakfast, Jay went home to change, and met Vonda at the precenct.
She had made a start working through the files.
She sat in the interview room again, making notes as she read her way through witness statement's and forensic reports.
How did the killer get close to the victim?. Why did the victim's let the killer into their houses?. No force had been used.
And then there was the assualt. Just feeling up the victim didn't justify the drugging of the victim.
And then, it hit her. The victim's had to be "Made up" first, and not killed first, as Jay had suspected.
So, the killer was obsessed with glamour. He was skilled in applying make up and costumes, and had no sexual interest in the victims.
Vonda scribbled down notes, and then she noticed something that could have turned the case on it's head.

'From afar' chapter five.

Vonda awoke to the sound of clattering and the smell of breakfast.
She got out of bed, threw on a t-shirt and walked to the kitchen, to find Jay making breakfast.
"Morning." he smiled.
"Hi." Vonda replied, suddenly feeling nervous. She had spent the night with him, and now she was scared?.
That was stupid.
"I thought i'd cook." Jay said, as he flipped an omelette over."i don't usually get the chance."
"That's cool." She decided to bring up her worry. "I don't make a habit of, well, what we did last night."
He nodded. "Me, neither."
"But, i enjoyed it." she continued. "Maybe we could do it again?."
"I'd like that." he told her, and then he smiled at her, and that made her nervous, and fear, melt away.
She only just met him, but it was if she'd known him all her life.
It would be so easy to fall for him, and maybe she had started.

'From afar' chapter five.

"I didn't know you lived right where the victim's lived."
Jay and Vonda were walking into Vonda's small, detached house in the nice, surburban neighbourhood where the murder's had happened.
"You see now why i don't feel like being alone?". she asked, as she closed, and locked, the door behind them. "This case is a bit close to home for me."
Jay nodded. "I understand."
Vonda led him to the kitchen, where they put the bag's of take out on the top of the worktop, and Vonda reached into her cupboard, and got out two dining plates.
"I have no idea why you live alone". Jay found himself wondering, aloud. "I mean, you're pretty, and you are wonderful to be around, and....."
She smiled at him. "And....?"
"And, i've known you one day, and i am wondering why, exactly, i am feeling like this."
She knew what he meant. This. "Are you saying that you are attracted to me?." she asked, already knowing the answer. "Because, i feel this 'spark' too, and, well, it's been a while."
Jay nodded. "That's good."
She walked close to him. He was about a foot taller than him, and she had to stand on her tip-toes to gently plant a kiss on his lips.
"Let's just see where it goes." she said, with a smile.
He nodded, again. "That would be good." he replied.
She handed him the plates, and picked up the bags of take out, and smiled, mischeviously, at him."Let's go and watch 'Die hard'. And then, well, it's a long movie, and you may not feel like driving when it's over."
"I'm sure i won't" Jay grinned.
"Good." Vonda headed to the doorway, into her living room. "It's been a while since i had a sleepover."

'From afar' chapter four'.

It had been a long day, and Vonda was burned out. Sure, she was used to cases she worked on getting to her, but something about this case made her feel uneasy.
Almost afraid.
She lived alone, and the murder's all happened in the part of New York where she lived. She was also in the same age frame as the victims.
"I think we're done for today" she said, standing up and stretching. "I know i need some time away from my this case".
Jay agreed. "Any plan's for tonight, then?".
She hadn't. And the last thing she wanted to do was go home to an empty house. She had an idea.
"Do you have to get home?." she asked, sounding casual. "I mean, do you have anyone at home who's waiting for you to get home from work?."
"No one at all" Jay said, sounding sad at his reply. "I live alone."
For some reason, Vonda felt happy about that reply. No one waiting for him.
No one to stop her from spending time with him.
"No date, or anything?." she was trying ro sound casual, but she knew he was smart enough to know what she really meant.
He shook his head. "I'm single. Divorced, actually." he admitted, still sounding sad at his reply. "I work a lot. I usually don't have time for dating."
She was glad. "Divorced?. me, too." she replied. Her memories of her ex husband weren't good, but they were married straight out of school, and he resented her rich parents, and privaliged upbringing, and she couldn't take his anger at his rich father who had left him and his mother with nothing, after gambling his fortune away.
"Really?." Jay sounded surprised by her admission.
"Long story" she told him, as she put on her jacket. She decided to bite the bullet. "I don't really fancy being on my own, and i would really like some ompany." she smiled at him."Would take out and a movie at my place sound good to you?".
Jay nodded, getting to his feet."That would sound like a very good way to spend the evening."

'Bus stop' by The Hollies.

I LOVE this song. It's one of my favourite song's from the 1960's.

I like a lot of the Hollies song's, but this is my definate favourite by them.

The song is a simple story about a man who meet's a girl at a bus stop, and ask's her to share his umbrella, and then, as they frequently meet at said bus stop, they get to know to know each other better, and fall in love. And get married.

I have heard this song about five million times, but it never get's old, and i love it just that little bit more everytime i hear it.
