Leg exercise.

I've been looking around for exercises that work your leg's, and i found this one, which i'm starting to try.

It's pretty simple (which i like) and it's the following:

Stand facing a wall, with your toes touching the wall and gently push your body up 5 -10 times. Do daily.

I don't touch the wall with my hand's. It's more challenging if you don't.

Exercise: The bum lift.

Found this exercise in an old copy of 'cosmo' magazine, so i thought i would share it with you.

This exercise will work the back of your leg's and thigh's.

1. Lie on your back and bend your knee's, with your feet firmly on the floor.

2. Next, lift your hip's and bum up off the floor so your torso is in a straight line. While holding this position, straighten your left leg and bring it up in the air to a 90 degree angle.

3. Then, keeping it straight, lower leg until it's hovering just above the floor. Do four set's of 15 rep's on each leg.

Chick flick's i like: 'Sleepless in Seattle'.

The ultimate chick flick. This movie star's the ever excellent Tom Hanks as a widowed father, whose son call's a radio phone in show, and tell's the listener all about his father's heartache, and then the father takes over the call, and tell's the host all about his late wife.

Meg Ryan play's a listener, who is on the way to visit  her and her fiance's families for christmas. She hear's the call, and is convinced the lonely, heartbroken man is the one for her.

This movie keep's the couple apart for most of the movie, and, SPOILER ALERT, when they do meet, they don't even kiss. There's no big declaration of love, it's just simple hand holding, and that's enough.

I know that they'll be together forever, living happily ever after.

I LOVE this film. I've seen it about 500 times. It makes me laugh and cry. It's the perfect girlie film.

I didn't go to see 'Breathe in' after all.

There's only one cinema near me that is showing this, and there was only one showing today, and it was on too late.
I will probably go and see it next week, but not sure of the times, if i do get to go and see this film, i will post thought's about it.

Thursday, 25 July 2013

Decided to see 'Breathe in' at the weekend.

'Breathe in' was advertised when i went to see 'Much ado about nothing' and it looked good.

It's about a music teacher who tries to hide his attraction to a student who goes to live with him and his family. The review's i've read describe it as 'intelligent and heart breaking' so it sound's good, too.

I love character driven stories. And this one look's like my kinda film.

I usually like Guy Pearce. I've seen a few of his film's and, of course, i remember him in 'Home and Away' as David, a teacher who had a doomed affair with student, Sophie. (i loved that storyline. It was so heart breaking) and 'Neighbours' as Mike. 'L.A confidential' is also brilliant.

I will probably blog about the film, so i will let you know if i enjoy it.

'Sex and the city' really WAS groundbreaking.

It's hard to think about now, but before SATC, there was NO show on tv that had women talking about sex and relationship's quite as frank as Carrie and co. did.

Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York were groundbreaking women. They had career's, they had wardrobes to die for (i alway's wanted Carrie's shoe collection), they had relationship problem's, and weren't afraid to talk about them.

The show was refreshing and funny. It showed that women could be just as sexually driven as men (Sam, especially). That idea had never really been shown on tv before. It also taught us not to settle for second, not to be afraid of 'going it alone' when needed.

The show was about sex. And fashion. And, above all, friendship. These 4 women were much more than just tv character's. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte became more like friend's to us  in the time the show aired. I know i'd love the girl's as my friend's.

Some 'Stargate SG1' quotes.

One of my favourite ever show's. Here's some brilliant quotes from the show.

Daniel Jackson: Did he just call me a woman?.

Jack O'Neill: What's your situation?.
Daniel Jackson: I'm hiding. What's yours?.

Jack O'Neill: We come in peace. And we expect to go in one piece.

Daniel Jackson: This taste's like chicken.
Sam Carter: So, what's wrong with that?.
Daniel Jackson: It's macaroni and cheese.

Jack O'Neill: She, uh, she tried to seduce me.
Daniel Jackson: Oh, you poor man.

Sam Carter: If we don't make it, i won't have any regret's. You?.
Jack O'Neill: I'll regret...dying.

A post about the royal baby.

Just seen on the news the picture's of William, Kate and the baby, the future king. They looked like a very happy, content little family unit.

I like William and Kate as a couple. They seem very down to earth. Ok, they're royalty, but they also seem like lovely people. I imagine the baby (who hasn't got a name yet) will inherit his parent's manner (hopefully anyway). They both do a lot for charity, and they both seem to be loved, and want to bring the royal family into a more 'modern, up to date' society. That's no bad thing.

Kate's parent's started out in a council flat, and now they have a future king as a son in law and another as a grandson. The couple have changed the image of the royal family for the better, and i wish them all the best with their baby.

How to make a banana and strawberry smoothie.

You need:

1 large banana
2oog (7 oz) strawberries
240ml (8 fl oz) vanilla yogurt
120 ml (4 fl oz) milk
4 large ice cubes, crushed

All you need to do is place all the ingredient's in a blender and whizz until smooth, and there you are, one delicious smoothie.

How to do a fishtail plait.

Fishtail plait's are 'in' at the moment. If you're not quite sure how to 'do' one (i was a bit clueless until my friend told me) then here's a guide.

1. Sweep hair over to one side and seperate into two section's.

2. Next, take a 5mm piece from the edge of one and take it over to the other piece.

3. Repeat the process, taking a small section from one side and plaiting over to the other until you're near the end's. Secure with a small band at the bottom.

And there you have it, a fishtail plait.

More quote's from 'Monk'.

Sharona: Have you been drinking?.
Randy: Yes, i have. I couldn't think of any other way to get all this scotch into my body.

Adrian: I can't sleep with a crooked shelf in the room.
Sharona: Well, when you turn the light off, you won't see it.

Adrian: I can't go to Mexico.
Sharona: Why not?.
Adrian: It's not here.

Randy: Why did i just get undressed?.
Stottlemeyer: I don't know, Randy, everyone in this room is wondering the same thing.

Randy: Let's pretend this globe represents the earth.
Stottlemeyer: It's a globe, it does represent the earth.

Sharona: She's in the next scene, she kill's a guy.
Adrian: I hope it's the guy who designed these seat's.

Adrian: There's an old saying. Don't change....anything....ever.
Natalie: That's an old saying?.
Adrian: I've been saying it for year's.

Randy: I'll send this down to the lab.
Stottlemeyer: We're in the lab.
Randy: Then, I'll just put it right there.

I have a theory about 'The Big Bang Theory'.

Ok, i've been watching a load of my 'TBBT' dvd's this weekend, and something occured to me.

Why are all the blonde's 'hot' yet the brunette's are not?. Do the writer's have a blonde fetish?.

We have Penny, who is blonde, and is obviously pretty, and Bernadette, who is blonde and yet again, isn't classed as a 'geek'. Yet, Amy, who is brunette, is wrote as frumpy and unappealing.

I know she's a recent character, but Lucy was a brunette, and she had social phobia.

There was Sheldon's assistant, who was brunette and very pretty, but she's not appeared for week's, and only for Sheldon (and Leonard) to have problem's with. She's not really a character in her own right.

I would love them to introduce a REGULAR character who is EITHER a blonde, who they write as dowdy, unconfident and with poor social skill's or a brunette, who is pretty, sassy and  confident. Just to mix thing's up a little.

Gerry and the pacemaker's "I like it".

Another song from the 60's i really like. And one that bring's back some funny memories.

At school, my friend's (now ex) boyfriend played this song non-stop during one music class (he was trying to play it on the guitar, but i don't think he ever did learn how to) so two hour's of 'I like it'. Over and over.

I once stayed with a friend and her nephew played Shayne Ward (him that won x factor) 'that's my goal' 500 times in one night. Just thought i'd share that little memory too.

Luckilly, i liked 'I like it', so the mass playing didn't (really) get on my nerves (much) and everytime i hear it, i still think back to that afternoon in music class.

Some more healthy eating tip's.

If you wanna get a little bit healthier, then some of these tip's can help.

Swap white bread for wholemeal or wholegrain toast. I do this, and love wholemeal toast.

An easy one. Swap bigger plate's for smaller one's. You will have a smaller portion (and it will look like you have more food. How cool is that?).

Have a small glass of wine topped up with soda water.

Swap sugary drink's with 'diet' version's.

Instead of eating out of a big packet (of crisp's or biscuit's, for example), put the snack's in a bowl, and you'll realize how much you're actually eating.

Eat low fat yogurt. Add it to your cereal, have some yogurt with some fruit or just eat the yogurt on it's own for a snack. I am a bit of a yogurt addict.

Add some grated carrot's or pea's to some spag bol, or throw some veg into a sauce.

Men should have a skincare routine, too.

It shouldn't just be women who have a 'skincare routine'. It doesn't have to be a lot of fuss, but a few simple thing's can help men look, and feel, better.

1) cleanse. You can use a men's facial wash.

2) exfoliate. A couple of times a week is all it takes, to get rid of dead cell's.

3) Moisturize. No, it's not 'funny'. Your skin need's moisture, all you're doing is adding a layer of moisture to your skin.

4) protect eyes. You just need to apply an eye cream, to refresh, smooth and moisturize the eye area.

5) protect lip's. Just apply a simple lip balm to moisturize and protect lips.

And that's it. That's all you need to do to help your skin feel and look better.

So, the Monkees tour has started....

I would love to see the boy's 'live' sometime. I am a bit sad that i didn't 'get' into the band sooner and managed to see the 4 boy's tour together (i'd pretty much have to have been born when my mum was for that to happen), but Mike joining Micky and Peter is a big deal, and i'd love to see that.

If you aren't a Monkees fan, then 4th member Davy Jones died a while back. Mike joined Micky and Peter for a little 'tribute' tour and then this year, the three announced (eventually) that they were doing a US tour, and hopefully they may tour other countries. I'm waiting for them coming to the UK, as seeing them 'live' would be a dream come true.

I have a strange obsession/ addiction...

I've been watching repeat's of 'the royal' and i have discovered a strange love of Nick and Marion, and i have found myself writing fan fiction that centre on the pair.

I think it all started when i saw Damien O'Hare (who play's DR Nick) in a CSI the other week. I remembered how much i liked his character in 'the royal' and how much i liked Nick and Marion as a couple, so wrote one fan fic (based on the line in series 8 about the couple eloping due to Marion being pregnant) and that was that.

Well, it was until the repeat's on ITV3 are now up to the Marion and Nick episode's, and i have wrote LOT'S of little 'one shot' fan fic's based on this couple.

It's a shame the couple were only in one series (Marion was in 2 series, but her pairing with Mike didn't get me the same as her and Nick's pairing did) but they'll always be around in my fan fic's.

Tyler Hilton 'Kicking my heel's'.

One of the thing's i love about Tyler Hilton's music is that, in 'One tree hill', his character, Chris Keller, was an arrogant, over confident ladies man, but in his music, Tyler comes across as sensitive, insecure and romantic.

'Kicking my heel's' is an example of that. It's a beautiful song. "Why do you keep me around/ You could have any guy in this town/ am i the best you hoped for or the best that you've found" are the opening lines of this song, and set the tone of the song.

The chorous is also very sad "The more i drink, the less i feel sorrow/ The more i make the less i feel sorrow/ the more i love you the less that i feel alone" lyric's make me wanna cry (yes, another song that makes me teary). It's reason's like this is why i love Tyler's music so much.

'Bridge over troubled water'.

I have a confession to make: I get seriously pissed off when ANYONE other than Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon sing this song.

No one can sing it better than Art Garfunkel, with Paul Simon being the only exception.

I am a huge fan of 'Simon and Garfunkel' (Paul Simon is THE BEST songwriter ever, in my humble opinion) and 'Bridge over troubled water' is a favourite of mine. While a lot of their song's are beautiful with a lot of meaning, this song, somehow, takes their 'amazing-ness' up a notch.

I love the 'unreleased' version, too. It's a bonus track of the 'Bridge' album, and features alternate lyric's for the 'added' third verse. Both version's are both as equally brilliant as each other.

'To catch a thief' memorable quote's.

'To catch a thief' is a classy romantic suspense drama. Cary Grant and Grace Kelly are supberb in their roles, and i think this is one of the best Alfred Hitchcock film's ever made.

Here's a few quotes from this fantastic film.

Frances: What do you say?.
John: My only comment would be highly censorable.

John: May i ask you a personal question?.
Frances: I've been hoping you would.

Frances: I'm in love with you.
John: Now, that's a ridicolous thing to say.

Frances: You want a leg or a breast?.
John: You make the choice.

I love both Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, so it's only natural that i adore this movie. One of my favourite's ever.

Some quote's from 'Northern exposure'.

Some quote's from the brilliant 'Northern exposure'.

Joel: This is considered a spectator sport?. I've had more fun watching slush melt.

Maggie: What do i do?. Only go out with guy's i'd like to see dead?.

Joel: I finally figured out we are somewhere between the end of the line and the middle of nowhere.
Bernard Stevens: Oh, where's that on the map?.

Joel: She gave me a goat?. A nice bottle of wine, i'd understand. A box of chocolates. A rolex. What do i want with a goat?. Milk.

Maggie: The odd's are a thousand to one. Why would you be the one in a thousand?. This is ridicolus. You're not that special.

I feel so sad for Lea Michele.

I don't watch 'Glee', but i find myself really liking Lea Michele. I've read lot's of her interview's, and i think she's a nice, positive, happy person. That's the way i think she comes across anyway.

So, the death of Cory Monteith is very tragic for his family, and for her. I always think that when someone loses their partner so young, or when someone dies so young (and 31 is young) it's even more of a tragedy. So much of life they never got to experience, both as a couple, or Cory as an individual.

I only hope both Cory's family and Lea get through this difficult time.

I couldn't do my boyfriend's job.

At the moment, he's outdoor's delivering leaflet's. I don't know if i could actually do that job.

I have hayfever, so anytime we have 'high pollen count' my eyes burn and water, and my nose run's, so i wanna hide indoor's when it's really hot. Plus i don't think i could actually carry a VERY heavy bag. I don't do well in the cold either. I also burn VERY easilly, so have to slap on layer's of suncream everyday.

Working in a shop/ office/ indoor's is ideal for me. I get to chat to people (that's one of my strength's) and i get to hide indoor's. I've realized that i need to do what i enjoy (both in and out of work) to be happy and keep depression at bay.

I just hope i find a job soon, too.

'Much ado about nothing' was fantastic.

Saw this film today, and i thought it was brilliant. it's something i know i'm gonna watch over and over.

Based on Shakespeare's famous play, Joss Whedon has filmed this in black and white, and virtually, the entire cast has worked with him before.

The appeal of this movie, for me, was the actor's. I loved Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and I am a Nathan Fillion fan girl, so the fact i liked the cast was a HUGE factor in seeing this movie.

Nathan Fillion and Tom Lenk are a really funny double act (i loved their scene's), i was always a 'Fred/ Wesley' shipper, so i was a happy fan girl when Beatrice and Benedick have scene's together (especially romantic one's) and it's romantic (not soppy) and funny. It was just the perfect movie for me to watch.

It took a little while to get used to the Shakespeare speak, but after about 10 minutes, i didn't even notice they weren't speaking 'Modern'. I adore this film. So glad i saw it.

Some quote's from 'Numb3rs'.

I love 'Numb3rs', a show about two brother's, a FBI agent, and a mathmetician, who team up to solve crimes.

Larry: When we met just now, was i coming out or going into the library?.

Don: Well, i'm ready to party like it's 1899.

Colby: You assualted a federal agent with a deadly weapon.
Henry Korfelt: It was a volkswagon.

Don: You know what my favourite date ever was? pepperoni pizza at a laundramat.
Alan: Yes, which explains the conspicious absense of grand children.

Charlie: It's from someone who say's she's a fan of my work on low -dimensional topology...and she's a fan of my...hair.

Larry: Here's a discussion. Why is it that we remember the past and not the future?.

A little poem i wrote called 'Him'.

There was something about him
That made my heart skip a beat.
There was something so special
My heart just fell at his feet.
I don't know if it was his aftershave
Or the faraway look in his eyes.
All i know is that when he look's at me
I think that i could die.

And there you are, another poem by me.

How to wear leggings.

I love leggings. I have read/ heard several 'rules' for wearing leggings. I thought i'd share a few.

Wear under loose dresses and mini skirts: I do this, or wear tights.

Don't wear instead of pants: Maybe's not black leggings, but i've seen patterned leggings and maybes they would look ok with a top (patterned leggings aren't my thing, so i can't really comment).

Don't wear with evening dress: I thought this was a given, but, who knows?. If you're style is quirky, then you may wanna give it a go and see what it's like.

Wear flat's with leggings: Think this one's a bit wrong. I've seen lot's of women wearing heel's and leggings, and they look ok.

I think, sometimes, it's a good idea to break the rules of fashion, and just wear what you want HOW you want.

The dullest film's i have ever watched.

Following on from my earlier post, i have decided 'Sinister' IS the dullest film i have ever had the misfortune of seeing.

'The social network' follow's as second. I still can't believe how a film that nothing happens in is so over-hyped. Probably just because it's about facebook.

'The x files: i want to believe'. I love the franchise, but this film just seem's to be Mulder and Scully, and some other people, walking around in the snow. I don't love this movie.

'Fly away home'. It's about a girl who teaches bird's to fly. Cute idea, but i found the film totally dull.

Sex and the City. I loved the show, but a 3 and a bit hour film is a bit much (especially when the average episode was about 40 minutes). I didn't watch the second one.

There's probably a lot more which i've seen, but i've probably blocked out the trauma of watching them.

So, i'm (trying) to watch 'Sinister'.

If you like dull movies that are shot in so much darkness, you can barely make out what's going on, then you'll enjoy this movie.

Without giving away too many spoiler's, Ethan Hawke's character is watching snuff movies, in the dark, and walking around his house, in the dark.

Everything is so dark that i can barely make out what's going on, because everything is shot in the damn dark.

Also, because it's not exactly the most action packed movie ever, it's coming across as quite dull, and i'm only half watching it now.

Glad i didn't put this on later, as if i watch it at night, it may have put me to sleep. Desperatly waiting for something, ANYTHING, to happen in it, and i hope when it does, we can actually see the thing happening.

Some quote's from 'the x files'.

The title explain's it all.

Scully: Well, it's obviously not a vampire.
Mulder: Why not?.
Scully: Because they don't exsist.

Scully: Mulder, toad's just fell from the sky.
Mulder: I guess their parachutes didn't open.

(From 'the unusual suspects')
Munch: Here's a tip. Aluminium foil makes a lovely hat.

Scully: Mulder, please just keep reminding him you were drugged.
Mulder: Will you stop that?.
Scully: Couldn't hurt.
Mulder: Just stop it.
Skinner (opening door): Scully?. Mulder?.
Mulder (jumps up): I was drugged.

Mulder: I still have my work. I still have you. I still have myself.

Mulder: You know, they say when you talk to God, it's prayer, but when God talk's to you, it's schizophrenia.

Scully: Last time you were so engrossed, it turned you were reading the 'adult video news'.

Scully: And then he sort of flew at me like a flying squirrel.
Mulder: Well, i don't think i'll use the phrase 'flying squirrel' when i talk to him, but, yeah, that's what happened.

'Crime story'.

Made in the mid 80's, and set in the 60's, 'Crime story' is one of my all time favourite show's.

It's about a police team, headed by Michael Torrello, who are in pursuit of mob boss, Ray Luca. There you have two of the greatest tv show character's ever created.

The show features 'pre fame' appearences from lot's of star's (Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, David Hyde Pierce, David Caruso, Gary Sinise, Ted Levine to name a few) and, even though season two wasn't quite as good as season one, it still had some strong episode's. Season two also features a couple of plot twist's, and the final episode end's in a cliffhanger.

I love David and Suzanne's relationship. I love watching Mike and Ray trying to out -smart each other. I love how Joey (Bill/Billy Campbell) seem's to be chewing gum in EVERY single scene (ok, maybe i don't love that). I love the show. I still watch the dvd's all the time.

My best friend also loves this show, so it helped us 'bond', as we discovered it at the same time.

My 'Novel' has turned into a short -ish story.

I have worked out the problem i have when i try to write a long story.

I don't want to write lot's of scene's that are only 'filler's'. I just wanna concentrate on the scene's that actually matter, and just get straight on with the important bit's of my story.

Anyhow, my 'novel', which is called 'Searching my soul' is about a couple, who take some time apart, and have to work out if the relationship is worth saving, and the main female character has to work out what will make her happy, both in her career and her relationship.

I haven't finished the story yet, but it's quite clear that this story is not gonna be anything like a novel.

'Fire down below'.

I watched this film last night. This was the first Steven Seagal film i've seen, and i enjoyed it.

I don't know if it's classed as one of his best movies, but i thought it was okay, probably because it has Stephen Lang in it. I loved him in 'Crime story' (David Abram's was my favourite character in the show) and i've liked him in everything i've seen him in (i did fall asleep during 'Avatar', but so did my friend, who i saw it with. Her boyfriend enjoyed it though). He play's 'pyscho' very well.

Anyway, i was impressed with Steven Seagal's acting (he was more 'expressive' than i thought he would be). Would watch more of his film's.

Some under rated tv show's.

There has been some brilliant show's on tv, and, sadly, some of them were very under -rated.

1) CHICAGO HOPE: It came on the same time as E.R. More quirky than E.R and more light hearted.

2) ELI STONE: A lawyer has vision's of George Micheal, and think's he's a prophet.

3) JUSTIFIED: A U.S marshal is sent back to his home town after killing a mob hit man.

4) PROFIT: A man with a dark past will do ANYTHING to be a success (i still have to check out this show).

5) DUE SOUTH: Following the murder of his father, a mountie goes to live (and work) in chicago.

6) KING OF THE HILL: I enjoy this better than 'the Simpson's'. Boomhauer and Dale are really great character's.

7) BURN NOTICE: An ex-spy, who now work's as a 'private contractor' to help people in trouble, tries to track down the people who got him sacked (ie, 'burned') in this quirky and funny drama.

Some quote's from the excellent 'Due South'.

I have always loved this quirky little show, and, probably always will. Her's some quote's from the show.

Kowalski: Do you think i'm attractive?.
Fraser: In what sense?.
Kowalski: In the sense of...you know...being a woman.
Fraser: Do i think you're an attractive woman?.

Kowalski: I could do that. I choose not to.

Kowalski: My idea of health is a cup of tea without sugar.

Kowalski: Got any idea where we are?.
Fraser: Yes. You are right behind me and i am right in front of you.

Fraser: I first came to chicago....(repeated line, the story slightly changes every episode).

Ray: We're lost.
Fraser: No, we're not lost. We just don't know where we are.

Fraser: You take the big one and i'll take the bigger one.

Kowalski: Pretend you're a woman. Ok, do you find me attractive?.

Some 'CSI:NY' quotes.

I love CSI:NY, so a little post dedicated to the show.

Stella: They say burning is the most painful death.
Danny: How do they know?. What did they do?, take a poll! 66 percent of dead people surveyed.....

Flack: So, the neighbours were very helpful. They saw nothing, heard nothing and know nothing.

Stella: Theres something gooey here.
Mac: 'Gooey?'. That's a good forensic word. Gooey, i'll have to use that more.

Flack: You don't write, you don't call, i was starting to think you were seeing other detectives.

Flack: I could go on, but i've already read 'War and peace'.

I love Don Flack. He's so funny, and i'm so glad the producer's decided to cast Eddie Cahill in the role, as i really don't think anyone else could have made Flack as sarcastic.  I also prefer Stella to Jo, but like both Aiden and Lyndsey, and i love Adam and Sid (who, along with Ducky from 'NCIS' is the quirkiest medical examiner on tv). Quite sad the show is no more.

Chick flick's i like: (500) day's of Summer.

This is an anti-chickflick. It's a story of a man who is in love with a co-worker, Summer (as in the title), who isn't quite his girlfriend, but is a lot more than his friend.

As the dvd cover say's: this is NOT a love story, it's a story about love.

It's got a mostly male cast, which makes it different from the usual chick flick, and it's really funny (there's a funny dance scene after Thomas and Summer have sex for the first time).

It's not told in order (but it tell's you what 'day' of the relationship the scene is frrom), and you know in advance what happen's later on in the movie (if that makes sense).

I love the scene when Thomas is asking Summer "where they're going", as in their relationship, and she replies "I thought we were going to see a movie." lol.

It's a funny film. Don't let the 'Chick flick' angle put you off watching it.

'They'll need a crane ' by They Might Be Giants.

I adore this song. It's a upbeat song, so you instantly think it's a happy song.

It's not. It's a very sad song. It's actually made me cry on occassion's.  It's about a couple whose relationship is falling apart. The way it's sung, and the lyric's, just get to me and make me sad and make me cry. I love the song, and i don't cry EVERY time i hear it, but i do stop what  i'm doing and listen to every time i hear it.

Dumb, i know, but it's just another quirk i have: crying to song's that make me sad.

'From afar' final chapter.

Georgette George was confirmed as to be the serial killer. She had a cancerous brain tumour, and had week's to live.
The case was closed, and Jay and Vonda had no need to work together anymore.
"So, that's it?." Jay said, quietly, as he and Vonda stood beside her car. "No more working together."
Vonda nodded. "I know." she replied, sadly.
Jay smiled at her. "So, would you like to go out with me?." He asked. "I mean, officially?."
"I would love to." Vonda smiled.
Jay put his arm's around her, pulled her closer to him, and kissed her, softly. "How about tonight?."
"Sound's good."
"I'll pick you up at seven." Jay kissed her again. "I look forward to it."
"Me, too." Vonda replied, with a smile, knowing this was something special. She knew she was falling in love with Jay.
And he felt the same way about her.

The end.

'From afar' chapter ten.

Jay heard a gunshot as he got out of his car. He got out his gun, and carefully went into Vonda's house.
He saw Vonda kneeling over Georgette's body.
"What happened?." Jay asked, as he went over to the where the body lay.
Vonda explained what had happened, and then added "I think she was angry at the fact she was dying."
Jay looked at her, concerned. "Are you okay?. Did she hurt you?."
"No, she just wanted me to know she was the killer."
Jay nodded. "That's good." he got out his cell phone from his jacket pocket. "I'll call this in."
Vonda smiled, sadly at him. "I'm glad you came when you did."
"I wish i had come sooner." Jay corrected her. "If i had, then maybe none of this would have happened."

'From afar' chapter nine.

"You're right." Vonda quietly agreed. "I should be a woman, not an FBI agent."
The woman was surprised. "You're just saying that so i don't kill you."
"No." Vonda shook her head. "i'm saying it because you're right."
The woman started to cry. "I'm dying." she sobbed. "I am losing my life and i can't take it any more." She looked Vonda in the eye. "I used to be a fashion model. Georgette George. I was somebody. Now i'm no-one."
"Not exactly." Vonda reminded her. "You're....."
"I killed those women because they were false." Georgette said, as she put the gun to her head. "I wanted to be perfect. I wasn't."
Vonda took a deep breath. She had to stop her. "Please, don't..."
"I'm dead anyway." Georgette pulled the trigger, and she fell to the floor, in a pool of blood.

Some 'Burn notice' quotes.

Some funny quoutes from 'Burn notice'.

Fiona: If we looked for everyone who tried to kill you, we'd do nothing else.

Michael: Would you put some pant's on?.
Sam: What?. I can work better when i can breath 'down there'.

Madeline: You know, you missed your father's funeral. By eight years.

Madeline: Do you know what his first word was?. It was Michael.
Michael: It was juice. I was there. His first word's were juice.
Madeline: True, but he was looking at you when he said it.

Sam: A job?. Does it pay?.
Michael: More of a 'we'll kill you if you don't do it' type of thing.
Sam: Ah, i never liked those.

Sam: If i lose my pension, you're gonna be changing my diapers when i'm 95 and drooling.
Michael: Sam, i would never let that happen. I'd smother you with a pillow first.

I think Sam (aka. the legend that is Bruce Campbell) has the best lines in the show.

Some personal development tips.

Advice from a friend of mine that i am passing on.

Love yourself; If you can't then why should anyone else?.

Have fun; you only get one life, don't waste it.

Do stuff you enjoy; see above.

Be around people you like; life is too short for negativity.

Don't be nasty to people; remember the 'Karma' rule.

Get plenty of sleep; a good tip.

Have me time; everyone need's to be alone and to re-charge once in a while.

Be open minded; you may just be surprised by what you learn.

Don't let anyone put you down; because you're worth more respect.

Understand your insecurities; and deal with them (i'm still trying).

Be helpful; again, 'Karma' rule.

Have your own opinion; no-one should decide thing's for you.

Have a hobby; or several.

Know when you need a break; you can't do it all.

Appriciate what you have; you never know when you may lose it.

And above all, be positive; thing's can change. It may not happen overnight, but you never know what can happen.

'From afar' chapter eight.

Vonda opened her door, and let herself into the house. It had been a long day.
She took off her coat, and walked into the living room. She switched on the light.
"I hear you're looking for me."
Vonda jumped. Standing in front of her was a woman, who was middle aged, with a frail complexion and short black hair.
She was holding a gun.
"You're her." Vonda realized, her heart racing. "You're the killer."
The woman laughed. "You think you know me so well, but you don't." She took a step toward's Vonda. "Women were not meant to be FBI agent's. Women are not living up to their duty."
"Is that why you kill them?." Vonda gently asked, trying to remain calm. "Because they don't do their duty?."
The woman nodded. "i'm dying." She admitted, sadly."I'm dying, and those... whore's are allowed to live, with their fake breast's and nose job's. I'm a real woman, damn it." She walked closer to Vonda. "But, you're real, dear, but you don't live up to your duty either."

'From afar' chapter eight.

It had taken Jay and Vonda two day's to write a profile for their killer.
Female. Would come across as friendly. She would come across as no danger to anyone. Probably very frail looking.
She would have access to drug's and a variety of make up and cosmetic prop's.
To Vonda, this profile was more disturbing than the thought that the killer was a man.
Women were meant to look out for each other, or that's what she had been told anyway.
The profile had been given to the media, and Jay had given a short press conference.
And now the pair just had to wait.

I really loved a little known show called "Mysterious ways".

"Mysterious way's" was a light hearted drama about a college professor, Declan Dunn (played by Adrian Pasdar), who, after being the 'victim' of a miracle, investigates paranormal incident's and so called 'miracles' along with cynical psychologist Peggy Fowler (Rae Dawn Chong) and quirky physic's student, Miranda Finklestein (Allisen Down).

I loved this show. Declan is a brilliant character. He's brave and passionate, yet also annoying and selfish. Miranda and Peggy are also great character's. The show has so much heart and depth, and, even the religious aspect's of the show are not done in a 'preachy' way.

42 episode's of this quirky, feel good show were made, and still waiting for it to be released on dvd.  One of my favourite ever tv show's.

Some quotes from the fabulous Marilyn Monroe.

I hate how some people refer to her as 'a blonde bimbo'. Sure, she played a few in some of her movies (not all) but, in reality, Marilyn (or Norma Jeane, to give her birth name) was very smart.

Here's a selection of quotes from the wonderful Ms. Monroe.

"I am not interested in money, i just want to be wonderful."

"It's all make believe, isn't it?."

"Inperfection is beauty."

"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conqueur the world."

"Behind the make up and behind the smile is just a girl who wishes for the world."

"sex is a part of nature, i go along with nature."

"I have feeling's too. I am still human."

"I restore myself when i'm alone."

I hope Marilyn, who really DID just want to be loved, know's that million's of people love and adore her, and will do for generation's to come. She truly is a icon, and my (and many other people's) role model.

To quote Elton John's "Your candle burn's out long before your legend ever will."

Some quotes from 'Archer'.

I love 'Archer'. It's full of silly (and fabulous) one liner's like these.

Sterling Archer: Sorry, i was just thinking of whore island.

Sterling Archer: Seriously, call Kenny Loggins cos you're in the danger zone.

Sterling Archer: Five in a dark black and five in a slightly darker black.

Sterling Archer: I am drunk or i wouldn't be talking to you.

Sterling Archer: I gotta get back to earth before the stargate closes.

There is a LOT more, but once i start i may not be able to stop, so gonna leave it here.

Some quotes from "Crossing Jordan".

Some funny quotes from the crime drama "Crossing Jordan".

Jordan: I have so much energy.
Macy: Yeah, i can tell. Read your autopsy report. 12 pages to tell us she was hit over the head with an unidenified object.

Nigel: So, if i killed my husband, where would i hide the body?.
Jordan: If you'd killed your husband, You'd have to start in the closet.

Woody: Stay in the car.
Jordan: What, exactly, in our past makes you think i'll do that.

Nigel: Uh, i've got good news and bad news.
Bug: Give her the bad news first. She's a pessamist.

Woody: Look's like man vs city bus. You can guess the outcome.

I LOVE 'Justified'.

In my opinion, one of the best show's ever made. 'Justified' tell's the story of Raylan Givens, a U.S marshal, who, after he kill's a hit man, he is sent back to his home town, and re-united with family,  his ex-wife and his childhood best friend, Boyd Crowder (who is now a master criminal).

Raylan and Boyd have an un-easy friendship. The ultimate 'bromance' i think. I can't actually decide who is the better actor, Timothy Olyphant, who play's Raylan, or the always-supberb Walton Goggins, who makes Boyd so complex and so likeable (Just like he did with Shane on 'the shield'). Both are excellent in their roles.

The dialogue is witty, and has some brilliant one-liner's. It's a bit quirky (which i like) and the stories are alway's entertaining.

If you haven't watched it before, you are really missing out on something special. It's often quite violent, but if you can handle it, then you should give it a watch.

I kinda wanted to go and see Tyler Hilton in Glasgow.

He's not playing anywhere near where i live (sad face) and Glasgow is the closest concert venue.

The gig is on halloween night. It's around my birthday, so i could ask for ticket's for my birthday. I'm just not sure i could face the travel on my own.

My boyfriend probably wouldn't be into coming with me, and my mum can't and my best friend won't be able to come either, so, it would be me. Alone. In a place i've never been before.

And, i don't know where the venue is. I don't know Glasgow at all, so google isn't really much help.

No, i don't think i'll be seeing Tyler this time. hopefully next time he comes to the UK he'll play a bit closer to where i live.

'From afar' chapter seven.

"Lipstick?."
Vonda nodded. "The two glasses have two different shades of lipstick on them." she explained. "It also explain's the lack of sexual activity, and how the killer got access into the victim's houses."
Jay was confused."What am i not getting?."
"The killer hasn't been caught because you've been looking for a man." she revealed. "Jay, i think the killer is a woman."
"Because of the lipstick?."
"Because of everything." she picked up a crime scene photo. "You see them little mark's in the carpet?. They're from heels. Kitten heel's. The victim had none in her closet."
Jay was clearly shocked."Oh god, the killer is a woman, isn't it?."
"I'm convinced it is."
Jay shook his head. "Why?." he asked, quietly."Why would anyone kill these women?."
"I don't know." Vonda admitted. "But, when we find her, you can ask her why."

'From afar' chapter six.

After breakfast, Jay went home to change, and met Vonda at the precenct.
She had made a start working through the files.
She sat in the interview room again, making notes as she read her way through witness statement's and forensic reports.
How did the killer get close to the victim?. Why did the victim's let the killer into their houses?. No force had been used.
And then there was the assualt. Just feeling up the victim didn't justify the drugging of the victim.
And then, it hit her. The victim's had to be "Made up" first, and not killed first, as Jay had suspected.
So, the killer was obsessed with glamour. He was skilled in applying make up and costumes, and had no sexual interest in the victims.
Vonda scribbled down notes, and then she noticed something that could have turned the case on it's head.

'From afar' chapter five.

Vonda awoke to the sound of clattering and the smell of breakfast.
She got out of bed, threw on a t-shirt and walked to the kitchen, to find Jay making breakfast.
"Morning." he smiled.
"Hi." Vonda replied, suddenly feeling nervous. She had spent the night with him, and now she was scared?.
That was stupid.
"I thought i'd cook." Jay said, as he flipped an omelette over."i don't usually get the chance."
"That's cool." She decided to bring up her worry. "I don't make a habit of, well, what we did last night."
He nodded. "Me, neither."
"But, i enjoyed it." she continued. "Maybe we could do it again?."
"I'd like that." he told her, and then he smiled at her, and that made her nervous, and fear, melt away.
She only just met him, but it was if she'd known him all her life.
It would be so easy to fall for him, and maybe she had started.

'From afar' chapter five.

"I didn't know you lived right where the victim's lived."
Jay and Vonda were walking into Vonda's small, detached house in the nice, surburban neighbourhood where the murder's had happened.
"You see now why i don't feel like being alone?". she asked, as she closed, and locked, the door behind them. "This case is a bit close to home for me."
Jay nodded. "I understand."
Vonda led him to the kitchen, where they put the bag's of take out on the top of the worktop, and Vonda reached into her cupboard, and got out two dining plates.
"I have no idea why you live alone". Jay found himself wondering, aloud. "I mean, you're pretty, and you are wonderful to be around, and....."
She smiled at him. "And....?"
"And, i've known you one day, and i am wondering why, exactly, i am feeling like this."
She knew what he meant. This. "Are you saying that you are attracted to me?." she asked, already knowing the answer. "Because, i feel this 'spark' too, and, well, it's been a while."
Jay nodded. "That's good."
She walked close to him. He was about a foot taller than him, and she had to stand on her tip-toes to gently plant a kiss on his lips.
"Let's just see where it goes." she said, with a smile.
He nodded, again. "That would be good." he replied.
She handed him the plates, and picked up the bags of take out, and smiled, mischeviously, at him."Let's go and watch 'Die hard'. And then, well, it's a long movie, and you may not feel like driving when it's over."
"I'm sure i won't" Jay grinned.
"Good." Vonda headed to the doorway, into her living room. "It's been a while since i had a sleepover."

'From afar' chapter four'.

It had been a long day, and Vonda was burned out. Sure, she was used to cases she worked on getting to her, but something about this case made her feel uneasy.
Almost afraid.
She lived alone, and the murder's all happened in the part of New York where she lived. She was also in the same age frame as the victims.
"I think we're done for today" she said, standing up and stretching. "I know i need some time away from my this case".
Jay agreed. "Any plan's for tonight, then?".
She hadn't. And the last thing she wanted to do was go home to an empty house. She had an idea.
"Do you have to get home?." she asked, sounding casual. "I mean, do you have anyone at home who's waiting for you to get home from work?."
"No one at all" Jay said, sounding sad at his reply. "I live alone."
For some reason, Vonda felt happy about that reply. No one waiting for him.
No one to stop her from spending time with him.
"No date, or anything?." she was trying ro sound casual, but she knew he was smart enough to know what she really meant.
He shook his head. "I'm single. Divorced, actually." he admitted, still sounding sad at his reply. "I work a lot. I usually don't have time for dating."
She was glad. "Divorced?. me, too." she replied. Her memories of her ex husband weren't good, but they were married straight out of school, and he resented her rich parents, and privaliged upbringing, and she couldn't take his anger at his rich father who had left him and his mother with nothing, after gambling his fortune away.
"Really?." Jay sounded surprised by her admission.
"Long story" she told him, as she put on her jacket. She decided to bite the bullet. "I don't really fancy being on my own, and i would really like some ompany." she smiled at him."Would take out and a movie at my place sound good to you?".
Jay nodded, getting to his feet."That would sound like a very good way to spend the evening."

'Bus stop' by The Hollies.

I LOVE this song. It's one of my favourite song's from the 1960's.

I like a lot of the Hollies song's, but this is my definate favourite by them.

The song is a simple story about a man who meet's a girl at a bus stop, and ask's her to share his umbrella, and then, as they frequently meet at said bus stop, they get to know to know each other better, and fall in love. And get married.

I have heard this song about five million times, but it never get's old, and i love it just that little bit more everytime i hear it.

'Fair Game' was a little boring.

Based on a true story about a CIA agent, who's husband spoke out against the Iraq war, and in response, had her cover blown.

It's an interesting story, and that's why i watched the film, but i didn't find it engaging.

It was like an info-mercial against the Iraq war. I know why the troop's were sent there. The American (and other) government's thought Iraq had weapon's of mass destruction, and declared war. I really didn't need the first hour and a bit of the film telling me this fact.

I would have liked to have seen more of  what happened to  Valerie after her cover was blown, but maybe the writer's thought the debate of the war was better material, than a woman trying to re-build her life and marriage was.

"From afar" chapter three.

Vonda sat in front of a pile of files in an empty interview room.
Four women. Assualted. Strangled. And then, strangely, made up to look like they were ready for a night out.
Nothing surprised her anymore, but this came close.
"Why the make up?" Vonda wondered aloud, as Jay walked into the room, carrying another pile of files. He had decided, on a whim, to go through cold cases, and see if any more victim's showed up.
"That's what i wondered" Jay replied, as he sat the files on the table."I checked some make up studio's, but there's a lot, and New York has a lot of professional's, and...."
"It's fine." she told him. "That can go on the 'to do' list."
Jay sat down."You know what else i'm thinking?. Why does he feel them up and yet not rape them?".
"I don't know." Vonda admitted. That had puzzled her too."It's like this person is..."
"Wacko?" Jay added.
"Un-conventional" Vonda corrected. "And, extremely unstable. And dangerous".

'From afar' chapter two.

Jay Denwood escorted Vonda to the staff kitchen, made her coffee, and then proceeded to tell her about exactly why he needed her help.
"I have four unsolved murder's." he said, quietly. "All four women lived alone, and were between thirty and forty five years old. No woman had any link's to the other three."
Vonda nodded."I see".
Jay looked at her, studying her for the first time since her arrival. Long white-blonde hair, hazel coloured eyes, slim figure.
She could see he was checking her out, and got his attention."You want me to do what, exactly?".
Jay looked away from her. "I think the murder's were the work of the same man" he explained, firmly."Someone who had the oppurtunity to be alone with the women and kill them. I just don't know who. Or how to catch him".
"I can help." Vonda told him, with a smile."First of all, i need to see the files, and then we can see if the unsub has left us any clues to help us find him".

Going to write a story for this blog.

It's going to be a short story, about a detective and an FBI profiler, who solve a series of murder's, and maybe fall in love along the way.

I am still working on my novel idea's, and other short stories, so this story will keep me going, if i get writer's block or need to have time away from my novel or other stories.

Hope you enjoy.

"From afar" chapter one.

As she walked into the old, badly decaying building, Vonda Richmond glanced around, wandering what she was doing here.
It looked more like a squat than it did a police precenct.
She also saw how crowded the building was. There was an open office space, with desks facing each other, and almost every desk was occupied.
She made her way over to the nearest desk, avoiding bumping into anyone, and approached the man sitting there.
"Hi" she said, trying to sound more confident than she was feeling. "I'm looking for Detective Denwood".
The man looked up at her. He was young, around mid-30's, with short black hair and light blue eyes. He spoke with a soft texas accent. "You found him".
"Oh" he was younger, and more handsome, than she imagined him to be." Hello, detective. I'm your FBI profiler."

I really enjoyed 'Fracture'.

'Fracture' is a brilliant film, for anyone who hasn't seen it, i highly recomend.

It's a psychological thriller about a man, who shoots his cheating wife, and confesses to the crime. So the trial should be simple, right?.

Not exactly, and what should be an 'open and shut' case, turns into a battle of wit's between the man, and the public defender, who quickly realizes that getting a conviction will be tough, if not impossible.

There's a clever twist at the end. The film may be two hours, but it didn't feel that long when i watched it. The time just flew by.

Great film. Well written and acted. It's going on my list of favourites.

Female celeb's that i like.

Doris Day: Proving nice girl's can also be fiesty.

Diane Kruger: She is a great actress and i love her fashion style, too.

Sandra Bullock: She's classy and another natural beauty.
